2016: Year of Skincare
9:23 PM
The year 2016 is going to be the year of skin care for me! More specifically, I'm going to be focusing on reducing acne scaring and keeping my skin better hydrated. On the topic of acne, have you ever seen that photo of a bunch of skin care products with the caption, "Just wash your face for once". If not, here is a link to the photo's source (LINK).
I relate to that photo so much! I always get these responses in regards to acne:
1.) You have acne because you wear too much makeup!
2.) It's because all you eat is fried / junk food and dairy products!
3.) You just need to wash your face more!
As for theses claims, let me show you how serious I am about my skincare. It isn't just washing. It's deep cleansing!
Clarisonic Sonic Romance Mia 2
This is the Clarisonic my sister got for my birthday! I wanted to get one after she said it helped her achieve cleaner feeling skin. I thought it would be nice to my own facial cleanser.
The inside packaging
The Clarisonic comes with a charger, refreshing gel cleanser, and a traveling case. The charger is pretty cool! It's completely magnetic so you don't have to worry about any exposed charging ports.
I like the gel cleanser that comes with the package. It smells really fresh! It kind of reminds me of the cucumber lemon scented soap that some hotels have at their spa.
The carrying case is useful for travels! I place my Clarisonic in the case whenever I travel back home from university! It keeps it damage free when the brush is in my suitcase full of clothes!
Clarisonic Mia 2
As you can see, there are two buttons. Pressing the buttons changes the setting on the brush. To my knowledge, there are two modes. One mode increases the brush's scrubbing movements and the other mode is a bit more delicate. I use the hard setting for days when I really want to exfoliate my skin.
Neutrogena Makeup Remover Towelettes & Bioderma Sebium H20
I've been using Neutrogena Makeup Remover Towelettes for many years. It's the only drugstore brand that removes my foundation and eyeliner! However, I have to be honest and say that I am not a big fan of it. Don't get me wrong, the wipes work well! However, the scent of the product is a bit of a turn off. It smells too strong of floral fragrances and sometimes can sting if you have sensitive skin. I am currently on the look out for a new makeup removing wipe! If you have any suggestions, leave it in the comments below :]!
Let me start off by saying that I am a HUGE fan of Bioderma. I've written about Bioderma in the past. You can check out that blog post here [LINK]. I have tried both the Sensibio H20 (red cap) and the Sebium H20 (green cap) version. Personally, I enjoy the green cap Bioderma a little bit more. However, I would highly recommend both products! Bioderma removes all the underlying makeup that normal makeup wipes can miss. It's always satisfying to use Bioderma to see all the leftover makeup that gets removed! Also, the smell of Bioderma is refreshing. My skin just feels so much cleaner after using it!
Clean & Clear Night Relaxing Depp Cleaning Face Wash
&
Continuous Control Acne Cleanser (10% Benzoyl Peroxide)
Clean & Clear has been a staple product of mine since high school! It's affordable and can last a long time! I really enjoyed their Morning Burst face wash. So when Clean & Clear recently came out with a night time facial wash, I knew that I had to try it out! The face wash feels great. It's not too powerful and it's also an oil free product. I also like that there aren't any microbeads in this new product. (As you know, microbeads get washed down the drain and end up in lakes and oceans. This ruins the ecosystem!)
The acne cleanser smells so good! I'm a big fan of mint smelling products. This acne cleanser is one of those rare products that doesn't smell like an acne product. You know what I mean. Sometimes, you buy an acne product and it just reeks of medicine. This product, however, smells fine. Once you apply it to the face, your skin will instantly feel minty and calm! Since it is 10% benzoyl peroxide, you need to be careful about how often you use the product. Yes, it can potentially rid most of your acne breakouts. However, if you use this product every single day, your skin will dry out! I recommend using this every other day or every two days.
Clinique Moisture Surge Instense Skin Fortifying Hydrator
This is a product that I recently purchased. I have pretty dry skin. I rubbed my face and it felt dull and lifeless. This is due to long time usage of acne face washes and acne medication. I did some researching online, and many people recommended this product. It comes in a cute pink bottle!
First impressions
Let's start off with the pros and then work up into the cons!
-I like the consistency of the product: it feels rich and luxurious on the skin.
-A little bit of the product goes a long way: you don't need much to fully cover your face.
-The product applies smoothly on the skin
-Hydrates and reduces the appearance of "flaking" skin
CONS:
-Smells a little bit like craft glue
-Must dip finger into product: sanitary / bacteria concerns
-Can feel a little bit oily
Stay strong my friends. I wish you clear skin for 2016~!
